Dental Implants: What Are They, Benefits and Cost
A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a prosthesis that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, or facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium or zirconia form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first placed so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a dental prosthetic is added. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic/crown.

There are situations when losing a tooth is inevitable. Although some do not think much of replacing the missing teeth, it can often be vital to your health and your confidence to maintain your mouth’s full functionality and comfort.
Missing teeth can affect the way you look, chew and speak. Leaving an empty space in your mouth after losing a tooth can cause your other teeth to shift and trigger other problems like jawbone deterioration.
At Antalya Dental Hospital, our implantologists offer dental implants with superior stability to patients who are looking for a long-term solution to missing teeth.
Dental implants improve our patients’ quality of life by:
- Offering a long-lasting solution to missing teeth
- Behaving like natural teeth
- Restoring the mouth to its most natural state
- Preventing further bone loss
- Preventing facial sagging and premature aging
- Keeping adjacent teeth stable
- Rebuilding the aesthetics of a smile
- Renewing their confidence and self-esteem

Guaranteed to last a lifetime.
A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone as a support for a replacement tooth. Unlike removable dentures or bridges, dental implants offer superior stability, functionality and will not affect neighboring healthy teeth. Your implants will mimic the strength of your natural teeth and will preserve the vitality of your jawbones.

Your dental health can suffer during your pregnancy. It is also important to look after both your and your baby’s dental health in the early months of your baby’s life to help make sure you both have healthy mouths in the future. There may also be a link between good gum health and good birth outcomes: for example, you may be less likely to have your baby early if you have healthy gums.
As you age, it becomes even more important to take good care of your teeth and dental health. One common misconception is that losing your teeth is inevitable. This is not true. If cared for properly, your teeth can last a lifetime.
Your mouth changes as you age. The nerves in your teeth can become smaller, making your teeth less sensitive to cavities or other problems. If you don’t get regular dental exams, this in turn can lead to these problems not being diagnosed until it is too late.
If you want to feel good, stay healthy, and look great throughout life, you might be surprised what a difference a healthy mouth makes.
It is usually recommended that adults use a toothbrush with a small- to medium-sized head with multi-tufted, soft to medium filaments (bristles). These filaments should be round ended and made from nylon.
Bad breath can also be caused by some medical problems. ‘Dry mouth’ (xerostomia) is a condition that means your mouth produces less saliva. This causes bacteria to build up in your mouth and this leads to bad breath. Dry mouth may be caused by some medicines, by salivary gland problems or by continually breathing through your mouth instead of your nose. Older people may produce less saliva, causing further problems.
If you suffer from dry mouth, your dental team may be able to recommend or prescribe an artificial saliva product. Or they may be able to suggest other ways of dealing with the problem.
