Dental Implants: What Are They, Benefits and Cost

A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a prosthesis that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, or facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium or zirconia form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first placed so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a dental prosthetic is added. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic/crown.

There are situations when losing a tooth is inevitable. Although some do not think much of replacing the missing teeth, it can often be vital to your health and your confidence to maintain your mouth’s full functionality and comfort.

Missing teeth can affect the way you look, chew and speak. Leaving an empty space in your mouth after losing a tooth can cause your other teeth to shift and trigger other problems like jawbone deterioration.

At Antalya Dental Hospital, our implantologists offer dental implants with superior stability to patients who are looking for a long-term solution to missing teeth.

Dental implants improve our patients’ quality of life by:

  • Offering a long-lasting solution to missing teeth
  • Behaving like natural teeth
  • Restoring the mouth to its most natural state
  • Preventing further bone loss
  • Preventing facial sagging and premature aging
  • Keeping adjacent teeth stable
  • Rebuilding the aesthetics of a smile
  • Renewing their confidence and self-esteem

Dental Studio is the best dental implant clinic in Antalya with the highest success rate.

Guaranteed to last a lifetime.

A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone as a support for a replacement tooth. Unlike removable dentures or bridges, dental implants offer superior stability, functionality and will not affect neighboring healthy teeth. Your implants will mimic the strength of your natural teeth and will preserve the vitality of your jawbones.

Will the tooth be safe after treatment?2022-02-06T19:55:52+03:00

Yes. However, because a ‘dead’ tooth is more brittle, you may need to have a crown to provide extra support and strength to the tooth.

How do I care for my crown?2022-02-06T22:58:41+03:00

It is important to keep the crown just as clean as you would your natural teeth. The crown itself cannot decay, but decay can start where the edge of the crown joins the tooth. Brush last thing at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste, and clean in between your teeth with ‘interdental’ brushes or floss.

What is mouth cancer?2022-02-06T20:45:07+03:00

Most people have heard of cancer affecting parts of the body such as the lungs or breasts. However, cancer can appear in the mouth, where the disease can affect the lips, tongue, cheeks and throat.

What can cause mouth cancer?2022-02-06T20:46:15+03:00

Most cases of mouth cancer are linked to tobacco and alcohol. Cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking are the main forms of tobacco use in many parts of the world. However, the traditional habits in some cultures of chewing tobacco, betel quid, gutkha and paan are particularly dangerous.

Alcohol increases the risk of mouth cancer, and if tobacco and alcohol are taken together the risk is even greater.

Over-exposure to sunlight can also increase the risk of cancer of the lips.

Many recent reports have linked mouth cancer to the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer and affects the skin that lines the moist areas of the body.

HPV can be spread through oral sex, and research now suggests that HPV could soon rival smoking and drinking as one of the main causes of mouth cancer.

Practising safe sex and limiting the number of partners you have may help reduce your chances of getting HPV. Many people get HPV during their lives and for many this does not cause a problem.

There are now HPV vaccines for both girls and boys. They were developed to fight cervical cancer, but it is likely that they will also help to reduce the rates of mouth cancer. These vaccines are given at age 12 to 13 before sexual activity starts.
